Brigadier General Salim Saleh Al-Mahthouthi, Director General of the Free Zone Police in the capital Aden, confirmed that the zone's police operate according to a dual and integrated vision based on facilitating procedures for compliant investors and traders and tightening strict security control to curb smuggling operations in all their forms.

Brigadier Al-Mahthouthi said in a press statement that the Free Zone Police is no longer just a routine security agency, but has become an actual partner in stimulating trade and protecting investment by simplifying transactions and reducing the time of procedures to less than 24 hours for cases that meet the legal requirements.

The Director General of the Free Zone Police explained that the single security window was created to unify dealings with investors, in addition to launching an advanced electronic system to monitor the movement of containers and goods, which eliminates previous complications and reduces mediation and extortion.

Al-Mahthouthi added that the goal of the security system is to make the investor feel safe and secure, stressing that every minute of delay is a great loss to the national economy, and therefore strict directives have been issued to all affiliates to deal immediately and professionally with all commercial transactions.

Regarding the anti-smuggling file, he stressed that the free zone is not a playground for chaos, noting that the security services have carried out several qualitative operations during the past months to seize various smuggled goods, and they were immediately referred, along with those involved, to the competent legal authorities.

Brigadier General Salim Saleh Al-Mahthouthi described the port of Aden as the main treasury of the temporary capital, as it is the vital artery that feeds the state treasury and drives the wheel of investment activity, and it is the lung through which the nation breathes, securing the needs of 70% of the Yemeni people, as it is an independent sovereign facility that provides food, clothing, medicine and living necessities.

He pointed out that the port’s strategic location on international shipping lanes and its infrastructure and facilities in the free zone make it the primary source of public revenue and the most important lever for Aden to return to its historical position as a leading commercial and regional center.

Al-Mahthouthi pointed out that activating work in the port and the free zone directly contributes to providing job opportunities, stabilizing commodity prices and attracting capital, stressing that any enhancement of port security and facilitation of its procedures will have a positive and direct impact on the daily lives of citizens.

The Director General of the Free Zone Police called on the government and relevant authorities to increase their attention to the port of Aden, modernize its infrastructure, and facilitate procedures for investors, considering it a major national project no less important than the oil and gas sectors in the country.

Brigadier General Al-Mathouthi expressed his thanks and appreciation to Dr. Mohammed Alawi Amzarba, CEO of the Aden Ports Authority, and Mr. Aref Al-Shaabi, Director General of the Aden Ports Development Company, for their tangible efforts in supporting and enhancing security and operational work at the port and the free zone.

He praised the high level of coordination and integration between the Free Zone Police and the port authorities, stressing that this fruitful cooperation has had a direct impact on improving the investment environment, facilitating procedures for traders, and strengthening the system for controlling smuggling and protecting maritime ports.

Al-Mahthouthi continued, saying that the response and cooperation we have witnessed from brother Mohammed Alawi Amzarba reflects his great concern for the success of the tasks of the port of Aden, as it is the main treasury for the economic capital and the most important maritime gateway for the Republic of Yemen as a whole.

He added that the Free Zone Police are continuing their strategic partnership with the Aden Ports Authority and the Aden Ports Development Company to ensure the security and stability of the port, facilitate global trade, and provide a safe and attractive environment for all investors and businessmen.

The Director General of the Free Zone Police concluded his press statement by inviting investors to invest in Aden with complete confidence, relying on comprehensive security protection. He also urged citizens to cooperate continuously and to immediately report any cases of smuggling or extortion that the region may witness.
